On Wednesday 10th June I attended a Higher Education (HE) fair at Leyton 6th Form College in East London, where I gave two talks. Each year Leyton holds a two-day HE fair , which exposes sixth formers to talks from a number of UK institutions, including Hertfordshire, Greenwich, Kingston and Bedfordshire. There were also a number of stands, where students were able to collect prospectuses and talk to University representatives from a wide variety of institutions including SOAS, Royal Holloway, Brunel, Leicester , South Bank and the University of Westminster.
My first talk was entitled ’How to get the most out of University,’ where I explored the things to consider when choosing a University, choosing the right course and how to get the most out of University life once you arrive. The talk attracted a full house and students were confident discussing their personal reasons for wanting to go to University and were intrigued by the study abroad opportunities and the difference between studying at college and studying at University.
My second talk concentrated on the various degree options at Westminster Business School and was also very well attended. Many students subscribed to TRIBE (www.scoop.it/t/WBS-TRIBE) in a bid to keep up to date with economic and business news and to support the transition form studying at college and studying at University.
