How did you decide to study at Westminster Business School?
I always wanted to have an international degree and at the same time meet and learn from people all around the world. I decided to study at WBS because of its reputation and prime location.
Why did you choose to study MA Marketing Communications?
MA Marketing communications was the perfect course for me because; this course has a lot of reputation amongst the business community. It covers the basics of marketing and marketing communication, which provides students a broad variety of career paths to go into after graduating. To top it up, this particular course gives an opportunity to do a diploma in Digital marketing, which was a bonus.
What are the main challenges of this course?
Almost 80% of the assignments were divided into group projects and presentation. The main challenge for me was simultaneously working with different groups on presentations, and at the same time managing personal studies and work.
Can you please tell us about your internship experience in Mergermarket?
I learned a lot during 8 weeks of my internship at Mergermarket Group, especially how to work in a UK based environment, understanding how Marketing and PR works differently but are both important for a company. All my efforts were put into the internship, which now got extended for another 6 weeks starting in September. From day one, my team gave me lots of responsibilities. During my internship, I attended many company’s events, meetings and was also invited to a Hawaiian summer party (see inserted picture with my Marketing and PR team). I went to Kent with my seniors, to see how business cards and all marketing materials are made in a printing company.
What were the main challenges during your internship?
I enjoyed my internship throughout and at the same time learned working for both the Marketing and PR team.
What advice would you give to other students who would like to do internships while they are at University?
If you have never worked in UK before and don’t know what field to go into after you graduate, than internship is the best opportunity for you.
Everyone is talking about employability skills what do you think is the best way to increase your employability skills during your academic studies?
The best way of increasing your employability skill is to work part-time, do an internship or work as a volunteer. It adds value to your CV.
As a fellow student what would you recommend other students during their time at Westminster Business School?
If you get stuck somewhere, never hesitate to ask. Also I would recommend fellow students to join societies and make new friends. We all know that student life is hard work!
How do you manage to balance your studies with all the extra-curricular activities?
I prioritised my work in order to maintain balance between work and extra-curricular activities.
What keeps you occupied outside of work and studies?
In my free time, I like to go out with friends, exploring places to go in London and trying out different cuisines.
What are the main lessons you have learnt by being involved during your studies?
The main lessons I have learned are: complex project management, managing team members and time management.
What does the future hold for you after graduation? What are your plans?
I am currently looking for a full-time job in the UK. My plan is to learn and grow in marketing and at the same time travel as much as I can.
